Abstract
The ability to communicate non-verbally is considered one of the key skills that parents should use to interact with their non-verbal autistic children and they must improve these skills. This study aims to explore the use of non-verbal communication skills by parents of children with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the pre-school stage. The perceptions of ten mothers of children with (ASD) aged between 36 to 60 months old were analyzed. The findings indicate that parents of autistic children have deficient nonverbal communication abilities, even though those nonverbal communication skills play a major role in their children's communicative development. According to the current study, parents who are raising children with ASD should be trained to minimize the possibility of misunderstandings occurring during interactions.
